The Beijing Language and Culture University International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship “Chinese+” Undergraduate Program supports non-Chinese citizens aged up to 25, in good health, who have graduated from senior high school or equivalent. It provides on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance of 2500 RMB. Tuition is not covered and must be paid separately at 20,000 RMB per year.

Overview

This scholarship is offered by Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) in collaboration with the Center for Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education for undergraduate students in Translation or Translation Localization programmes.

Coverage/Benefits

Provides free on-campus accommodation, exemption of comprehensive medical insurance premium, and a living allowance of 2500 RMB per month. Tuition is not covered and remains the student’s responsibility at 20,000 RMB per year. Airfare and settlement allowance are not covered.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy, aged no older than 25 as of 1 September 2026, and have graduated from senior high school or equivalent with outstanding academic performance. They must meet HSK4 level 210 points (inclusive) and HSKK intermediate level 60 points (inclusive), with valid score reports. Applicants under 18 require notarised guardianship documentation.

Application

Applications must be submitted via the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship application website (cis.chinese.cn) by 5 May 2026 (Beijing time). Applicants must select 'Chinese + Vocational and Technical Training (Undergraduate)' and specify either 'Translation' or 'Translation Localization' as their major.

Documents

Required documents include: (1) Passport page; (2) Certificate of high school education and transcripts (notarised translation required if not in Chinese or English); (3) HSK4 and HSKK certificates; (4) CSCA transcript; (5) Letter of recommendation in Chinese or English; (6) Legal guardianship documents for applicants under 18.

Recommending institutions include Confucius Institutes, independent Confucius Classrooms, Chinese language examination centres, foreign educational institutions, Chinese language departments, and Chinese embassies/consulates abroad. BLCU conducts internal expert evaluation and forwards recommendations to the Center for final approval.
