Overview
The Beijing Scholarship for Foreign Students is established by the Beijing Municipal Government to attract outstanding foreign students to China University of Petroleum (Beijing), improve education quality for international students, and expand the university’s international influence.
Coverage/Benefits
The scholarship provides partial tuition fee exemptions: First Prize covers 5,000 RMB/year with the remainder waived; Second Prize exempts half the annual tuition (13,000 RMB for undergraduates, 15,000 RMB for master's, 18,000 RMB for PhD). Accommodation, airfare, health insurance, living allowance, and settlement allowance are not covered.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, aged ≤45 years, in good health and character, and maintain a GPA ≥ 3.0. For English-medium programmes, IELTS ≥ 6.5 or TOEFL ≥ 80 is required; applicants with two or more years of English-medium study may submit official university certification instead. Chinese-medium programme applicants must provide relevant Chinese language proficiency certificates.

Applicants must log in to the university’s online application system at admission.cup.edu.cn and select "Beijing Foreign Students Scholarship" under the scholarship option.
Documents
Required documents include: passport (information page); notarised highest academic degree certificate and transcripts; certificate of no criminal record; physical examination form; study programme; resume; two letters of recommendation from associate professors or above; and a letter of acceptance from a CUPB supervisor (for master's and PhD applicants).
