China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Confucius Institutes Scholarship

The Confucius Institute Scholarship hosted by China University of Petroleum (Beijing) supports non-Chinese citizens studying Chinese language for one academic year (11 months), one semester (5 months), or pursuing a Master’s in International Chinese Language Education. It is funded by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (formerly Hanban). Benefits include full tuition coverage, double-room accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance of RMB 2,500.

Overview

The Confucius Institute Scholarship is administered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and hosted by China University of Petroleum (Beijing) for eligible non-Chinese citizens studying Chinese language or International Chinese Language Education.

Program types

Coverage

Tuition fees, double-room accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance of RMB 2,500 for one-academic-year and one-semester study. The allowance is granted by the host institution.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens aged 16–35 (Chinese-language teachers up to 45; undergraduate student applicants up to 20), in good health, and meet published HSK/HSKK score thresholds. One-academic-year applicants must be Confucius Institute/Classroom students, overseas Chinese teachers, Chinese-language majors, or high-performing HSK candidates. One-semester applicants must have no prior study in China and minimum HSK Level 2 score 120 and HSKK Beginner score 40.

  • One-Academic-Year Study: sponsorship for 11 months; open to Confucius Institute/Classroom students, overseas Chinese teachers, Chinese-language majors, and excellent HSK performers as published.
  • One-Semester Study: sponsorship for 5 months; no prior study in China; minimum HSK Level 2 score 120 and HSKK Beginner 40 (as published).
  • Eligible courses include Chinese Language (1 semester or 1 academic year) and International Chinese Language Education (Master’s).
