Overview
Established in 2012, the Outstanding Freshman Scholarship provides 40 awards annually to foreign students enrolling in bachelor's, master's, or doctoral programmes at China University of Petroleum (East China). It aims to attract high-achieving international students studying at their own expense.
Coverage/Benefits
First Class covers full tuition, free on-campus single-room accommodation, and 10,000 RMB/year living allowance (1,000 RMB/month for 10 months). Second Class covers full tuition and free on-campus accommodation (single or double room). Third Class covers half tuition and half accommodation fee. Airfare, health insurance, and settlement allowance are not covered.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health. Age limits are ≤35 for master's and ≤40 for doctoral applicants. Language requirements include HSK 6 for Chinese-taught programmes, or TOEFL ≥ 80 / IELTS ≥ 6.0 for English-taught programmes.

Documents
Required documents include: valid passport (≥12 months); degree certificates and transcripts (with certified Chinese/English translations if not in English); language proficiency proof; research plan (≥1,500 words); two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors; supervisor’s letter of acceptance; and proof of recent employment or no criminal record.
