The Qingdao Municipal Government Scholarship for New International Students is a local government scholarship supporting newly enrolled undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and long-term advanced students at China University of Petroleum (East China).
Coverage/Benefits
Long-term advanced students receive a one-time tuition remission of $10,000. Undergraduate students receive 20,000 RMB over two years (10,000 RMB per year, conditional on passing annual assessment). Master’s and doctoral students receive 30,000 RMB over three years (1,000 RMB per month for 10 months annually). The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, and living allowance.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and not concurrently receiving other Chinese government scholarships. Undergraduate applicants for Chinese-taught majors require HSK 4; for English-taught majors, TOEFL iBT ≥60 or IELTS ≥5.0. Master’s and doctoral applicants for Chinese-taught programs require HSK 6; for English-taught programs, TOEFL iBT ≥80 or IELTS ≥6.0.

Documents
Required documents vary by student category. All applicants must provide a valid passport, academic certificates and transcripts (with certified Chinese or English translations if needed), language proficiency certificates, a Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and a certificate of no criminal record. Master’s and doctoral applicants must also submit a research plan (≥1,500 words), two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, and a supervisor’s letter of acceptance.
