The Chinese Government Scholarship — ECNU Independent Enrollment is administered by East China Normal University for full-time international postgraduate students. It covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, a monthly living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance. It is funded by the Chinese government and managed independently by ECNU.

Overview
This is a Chinese Government Scholarship administered through East China Normal University’s (ECNU) independent enrollment channel. It supports full-time international postgraduate students pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees at ECNU.
Coverage
Tuition fees are waived. On-campus accommodation is provided. A monthly living allowance is awarded: RMB 3,500 for PhD students and RMB 3,000 for master’s students. Comprehensive medical care insurance for international students is also included.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. Master’s applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old. PhD applicants must hold a master’s degree and be under 40 years old. Applicants may not hold any other Chinese government scholarship. Graduating students from Chinese universities in 2018 are ineligible.
Application
Applicants must register and apply online at both the ECNU International Students Office website (http://lxs.ecnu.edu.cn/application.php) and the China Scholarship Council website (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register), using ECNU’s institutional code 10269. The application deadline is 31 March.
Documents
Required documents include: completed application form; highest diploma (notarised translation required if not in Chinese or English); academic transcripts (notarised translation required if not in Chinese or English); study or research plan (minimum 800 words, in Chinese or English); two recommendation letters (from professors or associate professors, in Chinese or English); Foreigner Physical Examination Form (valid for six months); HSK certificate (for Chinese-taught programmes) or English proficiency proof (for English-taught programmes); PhD applicants must also submit abstracts of master’s thesis and records of research achievements; application fee of RMB 800 paid online. Documents sent by email or fax are not accepted.
