Chinese Government Scholarship Short-term Research Exchange Program

The Chinese Government Scholarship Short-term Research Exchange Program is administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to support academic exchange between Chinese and foreign young researchers. It is open to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as faculty members aged 45 or under (50 for faculty). The scholarship covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance of RMB 3,000 for general advanced students and RMB 3,500 for advanced students.

Overview

The program, also known as China Link, aims to deepen academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign young people and build a platform for global scientific research talent exchange. It runs for 1–12 months, with study in China starting no later than 31 August 2026.

Coverage/Benefits

The scholarship provides full financial support during the study period in China, including exemption of tuition fees, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance: RMB 3,000 for undergraduates and master’s students (general advanced students), and RMB 3,500 for doctoral students and faculty members (advanced students). Airfare and settlement allowance are not covered.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals, physically and mentally healthy, and either full-time students or faculty members at a foreign partner institution of the CSC. General advanced students must be aged ≤45; advanced students (doctoral students and faculty) must be aged ≤50. There are no restrictions on academic discipline except Chinese language.

Application

Applications are accepted year-round via the Management Information System for Chinese Government Scholarships (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login). Applicants must first secure admission from a Chinese institution. Chinese institutions submit candidate lists to the CSC at least two months before the start of study, and inform applicants of results.
