Chongqing Normal University Chinese Government Scholarship

The Chinese Government Scholarship–University Postgraduate Program at Chongqing Normal University is funded by the China Scholarship Council to support non-Chinese nationals pursuing master’s degrees in China. It covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, a monthly living allowance of 3000 RMB, and comprehensive medical insurance. Instruction is in Chinese; applicants without HSK 5 or above must complete a one-year Chinese language course before starting their degree.

Overview

The Chinese Government Scholarship–University Postgraduate Program at Chongqing Normal University is administered by the China Scholarship Council. It supports non-Chinese nationals enrolling in master’s degree programs. Applications for the 2018 intake were open from 5 January to 10 April 2018.

Coverage

Full scholarship includes: exemption from tuition fees and on-campus accommodation; a monthly living allowance of 3000 RMB for postgraduate students; and comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China. Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health. They must not be currently enrolled at any Chinese university, nor have graduated from a Chinese university within the past year. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years of age. All master’s courses are taught in Chinese; those without HSK level 5 or above must complete a one-year Chinese language course prior to beginning their degree program, extending the scholarship duration accordingly.

Application

Applicants must apply online via the China Scholarship Council portal at http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org, selecting Type B and entering Agency No. 10637 for Chongqing Normal University. The printed application form must be submitted with supporting documents to the International Office of Chongqing Normal University in triplicate by 10 April 2018.

Required documents: (1) Completed and signed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English); (2) Notarised photocopy of highest diploma; (3) Notarised bachelor’s degree transcripts; (4) Study or research plan (minimum 800 words, in Chinese or English); (5) Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors; (6) For music applicants: one cassette recording of own work; for fine arts applicants: six colour photographs of personal works (two sketches, two colour paintings, two other works); (7) Completed Foreigner Physical Examination Form (in English, stamped and signed by physician, valid for 6 months); (8) Certificate of no criminal record; (9) Bank deposit certificate showing local currency equivalent to at least 25,000 RMB. Documents not in Chinese or English must include notarised translations.
