Chongqing University Chinese Government Scholarship-EU Program

Overview

This is a full Chinese Government Scholarship administered by China’s Ministry of Education for candidates from EU member countries, hosted at Chongqing University. Eligible categories are undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, general scholar, and senior scholar.

Duration

Undergraduate: major study 4–5 years; optional Chinese preparatory year (1 year); total scholarship duration 4–6 years. Master’s: major study 2–3 years; total scholarship duration 2–4 years. Doctoral: major study 3–4 years; optional Chinese preparatory year (1 year); total scholarship duration 3–5 years. General and senior scholars: major study up to 1 year; optional Chinese preparatory year up to 1 year; total up to 2 years. Courses are taught in Chinese unless English-taught. Students without HSK 4 or above must complete remedial Chinese language training before beginning their major studies.

Coverage

Full scholarship includes tuition waiver, on-campus accommodation, monthly stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. Exact stipend amounts must be confirmed with the Office for Education and Culture, Mission of the PRC to the EU.

Application

Applications are accepted by the EU Office between early January and early April each year; confirm the annual deadline directly with the EU Office. 1. Apply to the EU Office for nomination. 2. If nominated, apply to Chongqing University for a Pre-admission Letter. 3. Complete the online Chinese Government Scholarship application at http://www.campuschina.org and obtain an Agency Number from the EU Office. 4. Submit two bound sets of all required documents to the EU Office before the deadline. Only candidates recommended by the EU Office are considered. Holders of a Pre-admission Letter are assigned to Chongqing University; others are placed by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). CSC sends admission documents to the EU Office by 31 July. No changes to host university, field of study, or duration are permitted after arrival; late registration results in forfeiture of the scholarship.

Submit two bound sets (top-left corner), non-returnable: • Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English) • Notarised copy of highest diploma (or proof of current enrolment/expected graduation) • Academic transcripts (notarised translation if not in Chinese or English) • Study plan or research proposal (minimum 800 words) • Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors (required for graduate and senior scholars) • Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (valid within 6 months) • Pre-admission Letter from Chongqing University (if available) • Valid HSK certificate (if available) • Legal guardian documentation in China if under 18
