Confucius Institute Scholarship of ZUST

Zhejiang University of Science and Technology’s 2018 Confucius Institute Scholarship, funded by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, supports MTCSOL, One-Academic-Year + MTCSOL, one-academic-year, and one-semester study for non-Chinese citizens aged 16–35 (or under 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers). Benefits include tuition and registration waivers, on-campus accommodation, basic learning materials, resettlement subsidy, outpatient care, comprehensive insurance, and monthly allowances of CNY 2,500 (one-year, one-semester, bachelor) or CNY 3,000 (master’s).

The 2018 Confucius Institute Scholarship at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology supports MTCSOL, One-Academic-Year + MTCSOL, one-academic-year, and one-semester study programmes.

Coverage

Winners receive exemption from registration fees, tuition fees, and basic learning materials; free on-campus accommodation; a one-off resettlement subsidy; outpatient medical service; comprehensive medical insurance; and a monthly allowance — CNY 2,500 for one-academic-year, one-semester, and bachelor students, and CNY 3,000 for master’s students.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health, aged 16–35 (or under 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers). Category-specific HSK/HSKK requirements apply: MTCSOL requires HSK 5 ≥180 and HSKK Intermediate ≥50; One-Academic-Year + MTCSOL requires HSK 3 ≥180 and HSKK Primary ≥60; one-academic-year requires HSK 3 ≥180 or 120+ Confucius Institute teaching hours; one-semester requires HSK 2 ≥120 or 60+ teaching hours.

Application

Applications must be submitted via http://cis.chinese.cn. Recommending institutions submit candidate lists to Hanban by 25 April 2018; host institutions submit proposed enrolment lists by 25 May 2018; results are published by 15 June 2018; admission documents are issued by 1 July 2018.

Documents

Required documents include the CIS application form with HSK/HSKK reports; notarised diploma or proof of current study; reference letters; MTCSOL teaching commitment letter; guardian documents if under 18; Chinese Bridge certificates where applicable; employment letter for in-service teachers; One-Academic-Year + MTCSOL teaching agreement; and any additional documents requested by the host institution.

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health, aged 16–35 (or under 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers).
  • HSK and HSKK scores are prioritised in selection; duplicate applications are invalid.
  • MTCSOL students undergo annual appraisal after year one; continuation of funding depends on passing the appraisal.
  • Students who fail the pre-enrolment health check forfeit the scholarship.
