Dalian University of Technology International Chinese Teacher Scholarship

Overview
This scholarship is funded by the Center for Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation of China’s Ministry of Education to cultivate qualified overseas Chinese language teachers. It supports undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as trainees in Chinese language education and related majors.
Coverage/Benefits
Scholarships include tuition, accommodation, living expenses (except for four-week trainees), and comprehensive medical insurance. Tuition is covered directly by the host institution. Accommodation is provided as free dormitory (usually double room); off-campus accommodation is reimbursed at RMB 1,000/month for doctoral students and RMB 700/month for others. Living expenses are paid monthly: RMB 2,500/month for undergraduates and trainees, RMB 3,000/month for master’s students in International Chinese Education. Medical insurance costs are RMB 160 for four weeks, RMB 400 for one semester, and RMB 800/year for over one year.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals, aged 16–35 years old (45 for in-service teachers; ≤25 for undergraduates), physically and mentally healthy, of good character, and interested in Chinese language education. Minimum language requirements vary by category: HSK Level 5 (210 points, writing ≥65, HSKK Intermediate ≥60) for master’s; HSK Level 4 (180 points) and HSKK Intermediate (60 points) for one-year trainees in Chinese Language and Literature; HSK Level 3 (210 points) for Chinese language training; HSK required for four-week trainees.

Applications open from March 1 via the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn). Applicants must also apply online at http://iso.dlut.edu.cn/. Deadlines: mid-April for July admission; mid-May for September; mid-September for December; mid-November for March.
Documents
Required documents include: scanned passport photo page; HSK/HSKK score report (valid two years); letter of recommendation from recommending organisation head; highest education certificate and transcript; for master’s: two letters of recommendation from associate professors or above; for in-service teachers: employment certificate and employer recommendation; for under-18 applicants: signed guardian authorisation letter; and other documents required by the host institution.
