The East China Normal University Confucius Institute Scholarship New Sinology Program supports non-Chinese doctoral students enrolled in foreign universities to study, conduct research, and write doctoral theses in China for 6 months to 2 years. Applicants must have HSK level 3 proficiency and cannot hold a Chinese Government Scholarship concurrently.

Overview

This scholarship supports doctoral students from foreign universities to undertake research and thesis writing in China under the New Sinology Program.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, enrolled as doctoral students in a foreign university, and hold HSK level 3 certification (HSK level 5 required for the full doctoral degree program in China). Those receiving a Chinese Government Scholarship are ineligible.

Application

Applications are submitted online via ccsp.chinese.cn. Required documents include proof of doctoral enrolment, two expert letters of recommendation, HSK transcript, master’s thesis abstract or research results, personal statement, and research plan. A letter of recommendation from a Confucius Institute is preferred.
