Coverage
Tuition and accommodation fees are waived. Recipients receive a monthly living allowance of RMB 2,500 and an economy-class round-trip flight each academic year, covering the shortest distance from the recipient’s home country to East China Normal University.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from South Asian countries. For the “1+4” and BTCSOL tracks, applicants must be under 25, hold a high-school certificate (or higher for BTCSOL), sign a formal agreement with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, and meet HSK/HSKK thresholds: HSK Level 3 ≥ 180 and HSKK Intermediate ≥ 60 for BTCSOL; HSK Level 3 ≥ 180 and HSKK Elementary ≥ 60 for intensive Chinese study. Applicants for intensive Chinese must not have previously studied in China.

Applicants complete an online application and submit hard-copy originals and duplicates of the Application Form for Confucius Institute Scholarship and all supporting documents required by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and East China Normal University.
