Overview
East China Normal University hosts this Ministry of Education-funded scholarship to cultivate qualified overseas Chinese language teachers. Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals, physically and mentally healthy, with no criminal record, and aspire to work in Chinese education or teaching. They must hold the equivalent of a Chinese high school diploma and be no older than 25 years old as of September 1, 2026. Language requirements vary by major: HSK Level 4 (210 points) + HSKK Intermediate (60 points) for most majors; HSK Level 5 (180 points) + HSKK Intermediate (60 points) for Chinese Language and Literature.
Application
Applications must be submitted between February 20 and May 15. Applicants must register on the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn), complete ECNU’s online application at http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/, pay an application fee of ¥800, and obtain online recommendation from a recommending organisation.

Required documents include: online application form; scanned passport photo page; scanned HSK and HSKK score reports (valid for 2 years); letter of recommendation from the head of the recommending organisation; highest education certificate (or expected graduation certificate) and transcripts; personal statement on Chinese learning background and study goals; and Foreigner’s Physical Examination Record.
