Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy, with no criminal record, and aspire to work in Chinese education or teaching. Age limits are 16–35 years old (as of September 1, 2025), or up to 45 for in-service Chinese language teachers. Language requirement is HSK Level 3 (210 points or above); HSKK scores are preferred.
Application
Applications must be submitted between February 20 and May 15. Applicants must register on the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn), complete ECNU’s online application at http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn/, pay an application fee of ¥800, and obtain online recommendation from a recommending organisation.

Required documents include: online application form; scanned passport photo page; scanned HSK and HSKK score reports (valid for 2 years); letter of recommendation from the head of the recommending organisation; highest education certificate (or expected graduation certificate) and transcripts; personal statement on Chinese learning background and study goals; Foreigner’s Physical Examination Record; certificate of no criminal record; and application fee.
