Northwest University International Students Scholarship

Northwest University (NWU) offers three-grade scholarships for international students in Chinese language, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes. Funded by NWU, Grade 1 covers tuition and on-campus lodging, Grade 2 covers tuition only, and Grade 3 covers half tuition. Applicants must be non-PRC citizens and cannot hold concurrent scholarships.

Overview

NWU offers scholarships across its Chinese language training, undergraduate (85+ programmes), master’s (189 programmes), and doctoral (109 programmes) offerings.

Coverage

Grade 1 covers full tuition and on-campus lodging. Grade 2 covers full tuition only. Grade 3 covers 50% of tuition fees. Tuition amounts vary by programme and degree level.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-PRC citizens, aged over 18, in good health, and not holding any other scholarship concurrently. Age limits apply: under 35 for language/non-degree/undergraduate, under 40 for master’s, and under 45 for doctoral studies.

Applicants must complete the online application at http://nwu.17gz.org, email electronic documents to [email protected], and mail hard-copy documents after receiving approval.

Required documents include the NWU application form, valid passport, notarised diploma and transcripts, non-criminal record certificate, language proficiency certificate (HSK for Chinese-taught, TOEFL/IELTS for English-taught), physical examination form, two recommendation letters and study plan (for graduate applicants), and a supervisor acceptance letter (preferred for graduate applicants).

  • Chinese-taught graduate: HSK5; English-taught doctoral: TOEFL ≥60 or IELTS ≥5.5.
  • Cannot hold any other scholarship simultaneously.
