NUIST Excellent Freshmen Scholarship

The NUIST Excellent Freshmen Scholarship is offered by Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology for outstanding new international master’s and PhD students. It provides a full tuition waiver. Eligible programmes include all master’s (2 years for English-medium, 3 years for Chinese-medium) and PhD (3 years) programmes.

Overview

This scholarship is awarded to outstanding new international students enrolling in master’s or PhD programmes at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). It supports academic excellence among incoming graduate students.

Coverage

The scholarship covers full tuition fees only. It applies to all master’s and PhD programmes offered by NUIST.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and friendly toward China. They must abide by Chinese laws and NUIST regulations, maintain a good academic record, and not hold any other Chinese government, provincial, or institutional scholarship concurrently.

Application

Applications must be submitted by 15 June via the NUIST online application system at http://nuist.17gz.org. Applicants must select the 'NUIST Excellent Freshmen Scholarship' programme during submission.

Documents

Required documents include a valid passport, recent photo, bachelor’s degree certificate (for master’s applicants) or master’s degree certificate (for PhD applicants), official transcripts, two recommendation letters, a doctoral supervisor acceptance letter (for PhD applicants), an 800-word or longer study plan, and language proficiency proof: HSK Level 4 with score ≥180 (for Chinese-medium programmes) or TOEFL ≥80 / IELTS ≥6.0 (for English-medium programmes). A completed physical examination form is also required.

Required Documents

  • (1) Scanned copy of the passport photo page.
  • (2) Passport Photo (within 6 months).
  • (3) Highest degree certificate. Prospective degree
  • recipients shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate showing their
  • student status and stating expected graduation date and later submit the degree
  • certificate to NUIST after admission. Documents in languages other than Chinese
  • or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
  • (4) Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages
  • other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in
  • Chinese or English.
  • (5) Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or
  • English from professors or associate professors of the university where the
  • applicants graduated from. Professors’ signature, contact phone number and
  • email address must be put on the letter.
  • (6) Applicants for doctoral programs must submit an
  • acceptance letter signed by doctoral supervisor from NUIST.
  • (7) A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or
  • English. No less than 800 words.
  • (8) Published academic papers or other academic
  • achievements.
