Eligibility
Bachelor's applicants must have completed high school and be ≤25 years old; master's applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and be ≤35 years old; doctoral applicants must hold a master's degree and be ≤40 years old; pre-undergraduate applicants must have high school education and be ≤23 years old. Pre-undergraduate applicants must achieve HSK Level 3 or equivalent.
Application
Applications are generally accepted from February to April each year via the "Study Shanghai" website (https://edu.sh.gov.cn/study_cn_scholarship/index.html). Annual review is required to retain the scholarship.
Documents
Required documents include: highest degree certificate and academic transcripts (with expected graduation certificate if currently enrolled), study or research plan (≥1,000 words, in Chinese for Chinese-taught programs or English for English-taught programs), recommendation letters, and HSK test scores (not required for applicants of Chinese descent).
