SHUTCM Silk Road Assistance Fund
Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) offers the Silk Road Assistance Fund for international students from Belt and Road partner countries. It provides partial financial support for preparatory, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies, contingent on completing at least one semester of SHUTCM’s Chinese language or TCM preparatory programme.

Overview
The Silk Road Assistance Fund (SRAF) supports international students from Belt and Road partner countries who complete at least one semester of Chinese language or TCM preparatory study at SHUTCM and progress to degree programmes. It is merit-based and does not cover full tuition.
Coverage
Doctoral degree: RMB 30,000 per year. Master’s degree: RMB 20,000 per year. Bachelor’s degree: RMB 10,000 per year. TCM preparatory programme: RMB 5,000 per semester.
Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens of listed Belt and Road countries (or others approved case-by-case by SHUTCM International Education College), be in good health, and comply with Chinese law and university regulations. They must complete at least one semester of Chinese or TCM preparatory study at SHUTCM, meet admission requirements for their target degree programme, maintain attendance above 80%, and pass required examinations. They must not hold the Chinese Government Scholarship, Shanghai Government Scholarship, or certain other SHUTCM awards simultaneously.

Application windows vary: TCM preparatory (fall) March 1–June 15; TCM preparatory (spring) December 1–February 28; undergraduate March 1–June 15; master’s and doctoral December 1–March 15. Applicants must confirm current deadlines with SHUTCM before applying.
Award and renewal
SHUTCM International Education College verifies documents, publishes candidate lists, and notifies recipients in writing. Preparatory students receive awards around week 15 of each semester; degree students receive payments after tuition is settled, typically in January. Annual review applies: undergraduate students must maintain GPA ≥ 2.0; postgraduate and preparatory students must meet progression requirements.
