Overview
The China Scholarship Council (CSC), entrusted by China’s Ministry of Education, administers this scholarship for international students to study at Yunnan Minzu University. It supports bachelor’s (3–6 years), master’s (2–4 years), and doctoral (3–6 years) degree programmes.
Coverage
Tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, comprehensive health insurance, and monthly living stipends are covered for the duration of the programme.
Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens who have lived outside China for at least six years and be in good health. Bachelor’s applicants must be aged 18 or above with a senior high school certificate and HSK 3 (HSK 4 for Chinese majors). Master’s applicants must be under 35, hold a bachelor’s degree, and have HSK 4 (HSK 5 for Chinese majors). Doctoral applicants must be under 40, hold a master’s degree, pass Yunnan Minzu University’s entrance examination for international students, and have HSK 5.
Application
Applications open February–March each year. Applicants must complete the online application at http://laihua.csc.edu.cn using Agency Number 10691 and submit hard-copy documents to the International School, Yunnan Minzu University. Successful candidates receive admission notices and JW201 forms in July. The scholarship is forfeited if registration does not occur by the university’s deadline, and recipients may not change host university, field of study, or duration without relinquishing the award.

Two bound sets (top-left corner): Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (one original, one photocopy, signed in Chinese or English); passport bio page; notarised highest diploma or degree (or study/work certificate if currently enrolled or employed), with notarised Chinese/English translations if required; academic transcripts with translations if required; study/research plan of at least 500 words signed by the applicant; two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors (for postgraduate and doctoral applicants only), including title and contact details; Foreigner Physical Examination Form (original required upon arrival in China); HSK certificate and transcript (HSK 4 or HSK 6+ preferred). Documents are not returned.
