Overview

The scholarship is established by the Yunnan Provincial Government to support students from neighbouring countries studying at Kunming Medical University. It supports academic education (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral) and non-academic education (e.g., Chinese language advancement).

Coverage/Benefits

The scholarship covers registration fee, tuition fee, accommodation fee, and monthly living expenses: ¥1,400 for undergraduates and language students, ¥1,700 for master’s students, and ¥2,000 for doctoral students. Publicly-funded medical services are provided on the same basis as for Chinese students. Airfare and settlement allowance are not covered.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. For bachelor’s programs: high school diploma and ≤25 years old. Language program applicants must have no basic Chinese, hold a high school diploma, and be ≤35. HSK Level 1 is required for language program applicants. Target countries include Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and India.

Application

Applications are accepted from early January to the end of March. Applicants must submit the 'Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship Application Form', notarised academic documents, physical examination form, study plan, HSK transcript, and (for master’s/doctoral applicants) two recommendation letters.

Documents

Required documents include the scholarship application form, notarised highest academic qualification and transcripts, physical examination form, study and research plan (≥300 words), HSK transcript, and recommendation letters (for master’s/doctoral applicants). Transcripts in non-English/non-Chinese languages require notarised translations.
