Shenyang University of Technology (SUT) is in Shenyang, northeast China. It is an engineering-oriented comprehensive university covering engineering, science, economy, management, liberal arts, law, and philosophy. Its predecessor, Shenyang Mechanical and Electrical Engineering College (founded 1949), was renamed SUT in 1985 and was formerly affiliated with the State Ministry of Mechanical Industry. Since 1998 it has been jointly built by the central and local governments, mainly managed by Liaoning Province. SUT has four campuses: Central Campus, Xingshun Campus, Science and Technology Park, and Liaoyang Campus. The main Central Campus is in the Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Area, a center for equipment manufacturing. Total area is about 1,596,000 square meters with about 624,000 square meters of building space. The university has 20 schools, 3 teaching departments, and 2 engineering practice centers, with 50 undergraduate programs and 20 three-year programs. Registered students total 31,315, including 16,087 undergraduates, 2,778 postgraduates, 1,831 three-year students, 7,236 on-the-job students, and 3,383 students of the Engineering School of SUT (independent college). SUT confers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Five first-level and 17 second-level disciplines are authorized for doctoral degrees; 71 second-level disciplines for master’s degrees. There are 3 post-doctoral research centers (Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Material Science) and professional master’s programs in Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, and Engineering Management; the Engineering master’s program covers 12 fields and is entitled to cultivate MBA
