About Xidian University

Xidian University, established in 1931 in Xi'an, operates across north and south campuses and is one of China’s national key universities under the Ministry of Education. It holds a foundational role in the country’s electronic information sector, having launched China’s first academic programmes in radar technology and cybersecurity. Founded in 1952, Xi'an International Studies University (XISU) was one of the first four foreign-language higher education institutions established in the People's Republic of China, and it remains the only government-run foreign-language university in northwest China. In recent years the university has broadened from a single foreign-language focus into an interdisciplinary institution covering literature, economics, management, law, engineering, and education, through teaching reforms and specialty adjustments. The campus covers about 1,593 mu, with roughly 550,000 square meters of floor space. Facilities include multimedia classrooms, language labs, computer labs, electronic reading rooms, campus computer networks, and satellite TV reception systems. Teaching equipment is valued at about RMB 39.4412 million. The library covers about 43,000 square meters and holds around 1.26 million books in Chinese and foreign languages, plus an electronic collection of academic journals and documents. XISU has 25 schools and faculties and 34 four-year specialties. Foreign Linguistic Literature is authorized to confer master's degrees, shared across thirteen related literature branches.
