The Bachelor’s in Electronic and Information Engineering at Westlake University is a four-year programme taught in English. Topics covered include microelectronics, photonics, communication networks, computer architecture, robotics, artificial intelligence, control theory, and power electronics. Shared undergraduate structure: for the first two years, students take the same cohort classes before declaring a major. The interdisciplinary core follows a liberal-arts model covering science, engineering, humanities, and social sciences. Science and engineering core courses build foundations in mathematics, quantitative reasoning, computing, and critical thinking and prepare students for all five majors. All international undergraduates study Chinese for two or more years. After freshman and sophomore years, students spend a semester or full year abroad at partner institutions in North America, Australia, Europe, or Asia (examples named: UC Berkeley, Cornell University, UC San Diego, University of Edinburgh, University of Queensland, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and others). After declaring a major in the sophomore year, students take major core courses and electives, plus experiential programmes, independent study, lab/theoretical research, and interdisciplinary work. Students may work in key laboratories with faculty mentors; undergraduates may take advanced graduate-level electives and choose from over 300 courses in science, engineering, and technology. A faculty-mentored capstone project culminates in a senior thesis.
