About Dalian Jiaotong University

Dalian Jiaotong University (DJTU) was founded in 1956 as Dalian Railway Vehicle Manufacturing School. In 1958 it became Dalian Railway Institute under the Ministry of Railways. In February 2000 it moved under Liaoning Province with co-construction by central and local authorities (mainly local management). In May 2004 the Ministry of Education approved the current name. The university focuses on railway transport and interdisciplinary software talent training. Campus area: 862,000 m² across two campuses in Shahekou and Lushunkou Districts of Dalian. Building area: 555,000 m². Teaching instruments and equipment valued at RMB 260 million. Library: 43,000 m², with 1,402,321 document volumes and 22,247 kinds of Chinese and foreign electronic journals. Structure: a Graduate School and 13 secondary schools awarding bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Degree capacity includes 2 mobile post-doctoral stations for first-level disciplines, 2 first-level doctoral programs, 7 second-level doctoral programs, 12 first-level master’s programs, 44 second-level master’s programs, 9 engineering master’s fields, and 2 master’s majors for university teachers. Provincial first-level key disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, and Transportation Engineering (covering 12 second-level disciplines). Undergraduate: 51 majors across Engineering, Management Science, Natural Science, Literature, Economics, Law, and Arts.

Doctorate: fill in the DJTU study application form and submit originals and copies of: notarized master’s degree certificate, master’s transcript, HSK Level 6 or above, Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, and ten bareheaded photos (3 cm × 4 cm, white background). Documents may be faxed or posted to the Dept. of International Cooperation and Exchange before the deadline. Master’s: same process with notarized university (bachelor’s) certificate, university transcript, HSK Level 6 or above, physical exam record, and ten bareheaded photos (3 cm × 4 cm, white background) After arrival: register at International Exchanges and Cooperation with required documents; submit passport and valid visa (F or X) to apply for a residence permit. Dalian Police Bureau rules: complete residence permit formalities within 30 days or face a fine
