Hebei University
Hebei University is the only key comprehensive university co-established by the province and the ministry. It is near Beijing: about 30 minutes by light rail, or 1–1.5 hours by train or car. Its predecessor was Tianjin Business University, founded by the French Society of Jesus; later stages included Tianjin Business Institute, Jinggu University, Tianjin Normal Institute, and Tianjin Normal University. The name Hebei University was confirmed in 1960, and the university moved to Baoding, a national historical and cultural city, in 1970. It has 29 colleges and 5 common teaching departments; 87 undergraduate majors; 189 master’s programs; 19 professional master’s programs; 37 doctoral programs; and 6 post-doctoral research stations ) It has partnerships with more than 100 universities worldwide, Confucius Institutes at Pontificia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Xavier University of Louisiana (USA), and language centers in Britain, Mongolia, South Korea, Russia, and Malaysia. Teachers have been sent overseas and international experts invited to lecture. International students have been enrolled since 1965. More than 3,000 doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and short-term students from over 50 countries have studied here. The university can accept Chinese Government Scholarship students and is a new HSK test center
