Dalian Maritime University (DMU) was founded in 1909. It is a major maritime university and the only key maritime institution under China’s Ministry of Transport. It is recognized by the International Maritime Organization as a center for maritime education and training. Programs: 6 post-doctoral research centers, 6 primary-discipline doctoral programs, 32 subordinate-discipline doctoral programs, 18 primary-discipline master’s programs, 97 subordinate-discipline master’s programs, and 51 undergraduate programs. About 19 teaching and research units include Navigation College, Marine Engineering College, Information Science and Technology College, Transportation and Management College, Environmental Science and Engineering College, Transportation Equipment and Ocean Engineering College, Law School, Foreign Languages College, Public Management and Humanities College, Department of Mathematics, and Department of Physics. About 20,000 students. More than 90,000 graduates have been trained at DMU, many working in China’s shipping industry. Facilities include maritime science buildings, a survival training center, harbor basin, library, swimming pool, planetarium, a training dock, over 100 laboratories (including a full-mission ship-handling simulator and an engine-room simulator), and two ocean-going training vessels

Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is a national key university under the Ministry of Education, in the coastal city of Dalian. It is strong in science and technology and also covers economics, management, applied liberal arts, foreign languages, and social sciences. It has a graduate school, 7 faculties, and 5 colleges, with about 32,000 full-time students. DUT has academic agreements with more than 120 higher education or research institutions in more than 20 countries and regions. The School of International Cultural Exchanges handles enrollment, teaching, and management of international students. About 6,000 students from 102 countries have studied at DUT for degrees or Chinese language training

Liaoning University is a comprehensive university covering Chinese language and literature, history, philosophy, economics, law, foreign languages, art, natural science, engineering, and management. It is a Project 211 key university under the Ministry of Education. The university has 25 colleges, 62 undergraduate majors, 160 master’s disciplines, and authority to award 62 doctorates. International students have been admitted since 1965, from more than 94 countries including the USA, Japan, Russia, Korea, Italy, the UK, and France. Over 8,000 long-term and 3,000 short-term international students have studied here; about 700 international students are on campus at a time

Northeastern University (NEU) was founded on 23 April 1923. It is affiliated with the Ministry of Education and located in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province. It is a multidisciplinary university with a strong engineering focus, comprising a Graduate School, Qinhuangdao Branch, School of Continuing Education, 12 schools, and a Department of Physical Education. Programs: 55 majors; master’s degrees in 171 subjects plus MBA, MPA, and Engineering Master; doctorates in 81 subjects; 13 postdoctoral stations. Staff: 2,227 teachers and researchers, including 5 CAS/CAE academicians. Students: about 2,300 PhD students, 5,000 graduate students, and 22,200 undergraduates. International exchange: academic programs with 140 universities and institutes in 30 countries and regions; about 705 scholars invited as professors/adjuncts; more than 4,000 staff sent abroad for study, lectures, or cooperative research. Foreign students have been enrolled since 1950. The university can recruit Chinese Government Scholarship students independently.
