Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship
The Chinese Government Scholarship is administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) under China’s Ministry of Education. It supports non-Chinese citizens for undergraduate, postgraduate, or scholarly study at designated Chinese universities. Coverage includes tuition, monthly stipends, and medical insurance.
ECUST Presidential Scholarship for International Students
The ECUST Presidential Scholarship is awarded annually to eight outstanding international master’s and doctoral students at East China University of Science and Technology. Three full scholarships follow the standards of the Chinese Government Scholarship for PhD students; five partial scholarships follow Shanghai municipal government scholarship standards for master’s students.
DUT International Students Presidential Scholarship
Dalian University of Technology’s International Students Presidential Scholarship offers Full Scholarships (tuition, accommodation, and monthly stipend) and Partial Scholarships (tuition only) for bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students. Full Scholarship stipends are CNY 1,200/month (bachelor), CNY 1,500/month (master), and CNY 1,800/month (doctor). Applicants must be under 25 (bachelor), 35 (master), or 40 (doctor). Applications accepted December through end of February.
Dongbei University of finance and economics Freshmen Scholarship
Dongbei University of Finance and Economics offers a Freshmen Scholarship for non-Chinese citizens applying to undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programmes. It provides a partial or full tuition waiver. Applicants must be under 35 years old, in good health, and demonstrate strong academic performance and language skills.
Chongqing Normal University Confucius Institute Scholarship
The Chongqing Normal University Confucius Institute Scholarship is funded by Hanban and administered by Chongqing Normal University. It supports non-Chinese citizens studying Chinese language, literature, history, philosophy, or teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It covers degree (bachelor’s and master’s), one-academic-year, one-semester, four-week, and ‘Chinese Bridge’ prize-winner programmes.
Chongqing University Chinese Government Scholarship-EU Program
The Chinese Government Scholarship EU Program at Chongqing University is a full scholarship funded by China’s Ministry of Education for citizens of EU member countries. It supports undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, general scholar, and senior scholar studies. Applicants must apply through the Office for Education and Culture, Mission of the PRC to the EU, typically between early January and early April.
Chinese Government Scholarship of ZUST
The Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), supports international students at designated Chinese universities including Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST). Awards may be full or partial, covering tuition, accommodation, living allowance, medical insurance, settlement subsidy, and inter-city travel support. Chongqing University Chinese Government Scholarship-AUN Program
Chongqing University hosts the Chinese Government Scholarship–AUN Program, a full scholarship funded by China’s Ministry of Education for citizens of ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) pursuing master’s (2–3 years) or doctoral (3–4 years) degrees. It covers tuition, accommodation, a stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. Applications must be submitted to the ASEAN University Network Secretariat between early January and early April.
Chongqing Normal University Chinese Government Scholarship
The Chinese Government Scholarship–University Postgraduate Program at Chongqing Normal University is funded by the China Scholarship Council to support non-Chinese nationals pursuing master’s degrees in China. It covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, a monthly living allowance of 3000 RMB, and comprehensive medical insurance. Instruction is in Chinese; applicants without HSK 5 or above must complete a one-year Chinese language course before starting their degree.
Chongqing University President Scholarship for International Students
Chongqing University President Scholarship supports outstanding non-Chinese students enrolled in degree programs or visiting programs of at least three months. Full scholarships cover registration and tuition fees, provide accommodation (on-campus or CNY 700/month off-campus), monthly stipends (CNY 2,200 for PhD, CNY 1,800 for master’s, CNY 1,500 for bachelor’s), and comprehensive medical insurance. Partial scholarships cover registration, tuition, and insurance only. Applicants may not hold other scholarships concurrently.
Chinese Government Scholarship —— ECNU Independent Enrollment
The Chinese Government Scholarship — ECNU Independent Enrollment is administered by East China Normal University for full-time international postgraduate students. It covers tuition, on-campus accommodation, a monthly living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance. It is funded by the Chinese government and managed independently by ECNU.
China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Scholarship
The China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Scholarship is a three-tier award for international students across bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and exchange programmes. First Class includes full tuition waiver, double-room housing, insurance, and a 10-month monthly stipend (RMB 1,800–2,500 depending on level); Second Class covers tuition, housing, and insurance; Third Class covers tuition and insurance. Applicants must have GPA ≥3.0/5.0 and meet language requirements.
China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Chinese Government Scholarship
China University of Petroleum (Beijing) offers Chinese Government Scholarships through CSC-administered channels: Bilateral, Chinese University, Silk Road/Belt and Road, and SCO. The scholarships are funded by the Chinese Ministry of Education and cover tuition, accommodation support, and monthly stipends for undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, general, and senior scholars. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and meet CSC age and degree requirements.
Chinese Government Scholarship (Guizhou University Program)
The Chinese Government Scholarship (Guizhou University Program) is a full CSC-funded award for master’s (3 years) and doctoral (4 years) study at Guizhou University. It covers tuition, dormitory, monthly stipend, and medical insurance. Teaching is in Chinese; applicants without prior Chinese study may include a 1-year language preparatory phase, but must reach HSK Level 4 before starting degree courses.
Chinese Government Scholarship of Dalian Maritime University
Dalian Maritime University’s Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Agency No. 10151) supports foreign master’s and doctoral students with tuition and application fee waivers, free on-campus accommodation, monthly stipends (RMB 3,000 for master’s; RMB 3,500 for doctorate), and comprehensive medical insurance. Applicants must be non-Chinese, not currently enrolled in a Chinese university (or graduated more than one year prior), under 35/40, and not holding other Chinese government scholarships. Applications closed in March.
China University of Mining and Technology Scholarship
The China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) Scholarship is a GPA-based award for international bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students. It offers three tiers—Class A (GPA ≥3.2), Class B (GPA ≥3.0), and Class C (GPA ≥2.8)—with fixed annual amounts per degree level, calculated on a 4.0 GPA scale.
China Academy of Art Scholarship for Foreign Students
The China Academy of Art (CAA) offers an internal scholarship for foreign students who already hold the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship and have studied at CAA’s International Education College for at least one year. Awards range from 6,000 to 40,000 RMB per year depending on degree level. Selection occurs annually in March for one-year awards.
China University of Petroleum (East China) New Student Scholarship
China University of Petroleum (East China) New Student Scholarship, established in 2012, supports approximately 40 international master’s and doctoral students annually. First-class PhD awardees receive full tuition waiver, free on-campus single-room accommodation, and a CNY 10,000/year living allowance. Second- and third-class awards offer partial tuition and/or accommodation waivers. Applications open 1 May–1 July via https://upc.17gz.org.
Chinese Government Scholarship of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law
The Chinese Government Scholarship offered by Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL) covers full tuition, on-campus accommodation, comprehensive insurance, and a monthly living stipend. Undergraduate students receive RMB 2,500/month; master’s and general visiting students receive RMB 3,000/month. Applications are accepted from 10 February to 30 June annually via Chinese embassy/consulate, CSC, or directly to SHUPL.
Chang’an University San Qin International Student Scholarship of Shaanxi Province
Chang’an University administers the Shaanxi Provincial San Qin International Student Scholarship for continuing self-funded international students enrolled in full-time undergraduate, master’s, or PhD programmes. Awards are 13,000 CNY (undergraduate), 20,000 CNY (master’s), or 25,000 CNY (PhD) per year. Applicants must be in Grade 2 or above and maintain strong academic and conduct records.
Central China Normal University’s Scholarship for new foreign students
Central China Normal University’s Presidential Scholarship, established in 2009, offers around 50 annual awards for non-Chinese students enrolling in undergraduate, master’s, or PhD degree programs. It is funded by the university and provides tuition support only: 5 full-tuition waivers, 15 half-tuition waivers, and 30 awards of CNY 2,000–8,000. Applicants must meet age limits based on entry level and hold the required prior qualification.
Chang’an University Chinese Government Scholarship For Postgraduate Students
Chang’an University’s Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Type B, Agency No. 10710) supports non-Chinese postgraduate students with full tuition, accommodation, and registration fee waivers, a monthly stipend (RMB 3,000 for master’s; RMB 3,500 for doctorate), and comprehensive medical insurance. Applicants must be under 35 (master’s) or 40 (doctorate), in good health, and meet language requirements. Paper application materials were due by 10 April 2018.
CTGU International Students Scholarship
China Three Gorges University (CTGU) offers international student scholarships for selected bachelor’s programmes in engineering. Awards cover full or partial tuition and are conditional on academic performance and conduct. The scholarship is valid for up to four years but may be revoked for exam failure, rule violations, or non-arrival in sequence.
CUG "Belt and Road" special Elite scholarships (CUG Elite Scholarship)
The China University of Geosciences (CUG) Belt and Road Elite Scholarship is a partial award for self-funded master’s and PhD students from Belt and Road countries. It is funded by CUG and covers either first-year tuition or first-year accommodation fees. Applicants must meet academic, language, age, and nationality criteria.
